Right to txting
RIGHT TO TXTING…
SPEAKER: Welcome esteemed members of the parliament!! Today I wish to settle the long standing issue raised by today’s youth regarding the need to acknowledge ‘txting’ or ‘pinging’ as they call it as a necessary right guaranteed by the constitution… anybody wanting to say something in this regard may please proceed as they will…

sms language
MLA 1: well sir… as a representative of the youth I would certainly back the demands of my community… presenting the right picture in front of the gathered dignitaries… to begin with txting, i.e. sending an SMS, a short message service, is a landmark service provided since the beginning of the cellular revolution in India, enabling as the name indicates, short and efficient method of conveying information.
MLA2: pardon me for interfering but mr. speaker, our mr. mla1 clearly is unaware of the changing trends among youth, which he calls ‘his’ community. What they actually want now is means of wasting time!! Efficiency would be the last attribute of smses today… especially when they are replacing normal talking… what can be spoken in a minute or two is extended over about 10 mins… such a waste of time and enery!!
MLA1: pardon me Mr. Mla2 if I am wrong… but are u telling me… and everybody gathered here that spending 10 mins thinking about and in apparent company of your… say relative… is a waste of time?? Well the point is that the 10 min you take ‘txting’ is spent thinking about and enjoying, anticipating the reactions of our ‘relative’. I do not condemn calling as an option… no!!… if u think that’s what I am trying to prove u are gravely mistaken… all I am saying is that sending an sms has its own merits… some more of which we will soon see… i.e. if mr. mla2 would be kind enough not to barge in and disturb me when I am speaking…
MLA2: aaarrrggghh!!!
MLA1: my friend here must understand that each coin has two faces… calling apparently has its ‘problems’ too… say for example… let’s consider our own Mr. Mla2 who is so busy as to not be able to spend 10 min about his relatives… he is in the middle of some important work and all of a sudden he gets a call, from his relative, he cannot really pick it up cos he is working and so it keeps ringing… quite some noise pollution… don’t u think?? And at the end of it when u actually pick up the call and say ‘hello!’ it turns our relative just called up to ask “how is life?” or worse still it turns out to be wrong no!! haha!! What a bummer!!
I would like to point to members of the assembly here that when we send am sms to somebody we do not fully expect an instant reply unlike when we call… smses ringtones are really short!!
MLA2: calling ringtones can also be short!!!
MLA1: yes but they are continuous meaning they ring and ring repeating itself for quite some time!! :P and Mr. Mla1 could u please not talk when I am talking here… it’s bad manners you know… in some cases where in important information need to be conveyed, even I would say nothing beats calling!! And if I may quote some of leading business firms in India many of them have the opinion that “ sending smses invitation to people is more convenient a method rather than calling each individual or sending an email to all the contacts… which we reserve for special dignitaries… for a few hundred employees… smses provide a better option…”. Also many institutions have chosen smses as a means to convey necessary information as class timings, locations, important notifications to its students like Gujarat University… and its extensive usage by students to pass notes and other information especially by C.R. s is undeniable…
MLA2: can I speak Mr. Mla1??
MLA1: oh at last! U asked me permission!! How can say no to that Mr. Mla2?? Please go on…
MLA2: our dear Mr. Mla1 clearly doesn’t see the whole picture… the students who send ‘notes’ and other information via smses also spend time sending smses regarding useless gossip and if he is knowledgeable enough about the industries and institutes then surely he must be aware of the many sexually implicit material which is also sent…
MLA1: excuse me Mr. Mla2 may I speak something here??
MLA2: NO!! You have spoken enough nonsense here…
SPEAKER: Mr. Mla2 u would maintain the decorum of an assembly here… and for this offense I would permit Mr. Mla1 to make his point here…
MLA1: thank you!! Well I guess mr. mla2 here has seriously lapses in this knowledge of today’s technologies… phones and sims today are provided with an option to block smes and calls from certain nos. if they wish… and if the problem still persists I would say legal action can be taken against such offenders… there are provisions for the same even now!!
SPEAKER: yeah even I was aware of the block by no. and block by address option… anyways… any more views regarding the issue??
