Cinema 2012 – The Bollywood films people enjoyed
The year 2012 for Bollywood was mixed it saw a lot of films crossing the 100 crore mark and a few misses too .Salman Khan had the two biggest hits of the year Ek Tha Tiger and a blockbuster in the making Dabaang 2 which is the fastest movie to cross 100 crore mark. But, films are not about box-office alone its about the people enjoying them .
Salman Khan proved once again that he is immune to crtics and people will love anything he does onscreen.Rowdhy Rathore,Barfi,Son of Sardar and Jab Thak Hai Jhaan are other movies to cross the 100 crore mark. Aamir Khan’s Talaash is another important film, Aamir must really have guts to do this kind of film and he succeeded with his experiment with a great response. For films such as Taalash the 100 crore club is not important , we must hope that more stars turn towards such meaningful films.
Once again most of the Bollywood hits were remakes and inspirations of South Indian masala films and this trend is sure to continue in 2013 with the success ratio of such films being enormous. But, we had few films that were out of the box such as Vicky Donor ,Paan Singh Tomar and Gangs of Wasseypur.
Vidya Balan proved that content is the king with Kahaani touching the 100 crore mark with the pure strength of her performance and the script.English Vinglish which saw the return of Sridevi is another women centric film which made a mark at the box-office.
In the year 2013 Bollywood promises good hope and a lot of sequels such as Dhoom 3, Race 2 and Krish 3 are scheduled to hit the screens.2012 can be termed overall good year for the audience as we got to saw a lot of good and meaningful films, lets hope we see some more radical change in film makers.
Best Film of the year – Gangs of Wasseypur
( For the sheer audacity and conviction to make a movie of this sort Anurag Kashyap must be lauded .)
