Music Turns 46 !
Tweet Happy Birthday Mozart of Madras! Humble smile, soft voice, master perfectionist, sensitive music director, hardworking character, passionate musician, word magician, fierce Indian—all this and more is what Wikipedia describes as “Indian composer, singer-songwriter, music producer, musician, multi-instrumentalist and philanthropist”. Yes, we are talking about the Isai Puyal (Music Storm) Allah Rakha Rahman as he turns 46 tomorrow. Born A. S. Dileep Kumar to music composer R. K. Shekhar and Kareema (born Kasthuri) on the 6th of January 1966, the world of music saw his birth when the tune that he accidentally played on his father’s piano, went on to become
The Mozart of Madras
TweetA S Dileep Kumar was a normal child. Interested in becoming a computer engineer and nothing more, a humble teenager complaining and all that, at the age of nine his dad Shekar passed away. It was a tough journey for him from then. Playing the synthesizer and keyboard for Ilayaraja he made some decent bucks to support his life. Then tragedy befell as his sister had fallen terribly ill. Sheikh Abdul Quadir cured her and invited them to follow Islam. Dileep chose the name Allah Rakha Rahman. A true believer of God and a human being all of us can learn from, A R Rahman has proved time and
Kadal Music Review
Tweet The album opens to Chithirai Nila, with a stunning rendition by Vijay Yesudas, who was thoroughly missed all this while in Tamil. Earthy, inspiring lyrics from Vairamuthu, over an intricately structured tune, with an interesting use of what I think, is the glass flute. The exuberant orchestration stealthily gains weight with the horn section and then falls down to Chithirai Nila again. And you can’t help but find yourself humming ‘Ore nila..’ Like a sister song to Aaromale, Adiye is a brilliant mashup of international genra over Tamil folk. The vocals take centrestage, Sid Sriram springs in with
Top 5 Movie Soundtracks
TweetMotion Picture came to being in the mid – nineteenth century. Though these movies lacked verbal dialogue, the background score played an important part in keeping the audience engaged. Even with a multitude of technologies prevalent in cinema today, without an engaging soundtrack it all falls apart. Here’s a list of the Top 5 Movie Soundtracks in Major Cinema. Keep in mind that though cardinal positions have been awarded, the contents and relative positions are subject to the mood, whims and fancies of the author (i.e. me ;-) ) The Lion King Hans Zimmer and Sir Elton John
Viswaroopam Music review
Tweet Music - SHANKAR EHSAAN LOY 1) Viswaroopam – This title song is the one telecasted with the trailers. Suraj jagan has rendered it powerfully conveying an attitude which borders on arrogance. This is a song for the masses. “Viswaroopam” is the refrain throught the song. “Yaarukkum adimai ille..Ivan yaarukum arasan illai” pretty much sums up the intense feel of the song. This song relies on its heavy drums and guitar to convey the mood – haunting/creating a suspense. In short, the song creates an image of Kamal Hassan as a determined man marching ahead on a mission.
Talks over a Cup of Coffee
TweetInternet has turned to information mayhem where the credibility of sources is at question at all times. It is also a time where pizza gets to your house faster than an Ambulance. With hundreds of online stores and thousands of ads placed across Cloud Computing, it becomes a further tedious task on picking the right store for your needs. When it comes to artistic and creative concert T-shirts I found a site http://www.rerock4ever.com, really reliable and dedicated in the work they do. With literally thousands of T-Shirt designs it has got something for everyone. Metal, Music, Comics, Celebs, Tv Shows
Biology of Music
TweetWe were all brought up in an age where our moms put us to sleep while singing a sweet little lullaby. We stirred a little and found peace with music. Curiosity owned the better half of mine when I was writing this. What makes music so special? Why do you like sad meaningless songs when you break up or why do you listen to the same sad meaningless songs when you are in a relation? Why do you like one song whilst your friend wants to kill herself listening to the same? Answers are all that separate us from the
AutoTune –A Felon?
TweetI walk around the campus and I see it has become Viral. Youtube was the very first affected while the social networks followed. Finally it came down to the mobile phones and then our minds. I literally hung myself before realizing its time to spread the word. While everyone went gaga over the famous “Why this kolaveri di”, I sat there staring at the wall trying to make sense of all that was happening. So, it was a song with seemingly lunatic lyrics and sung or rather spoken with a decent sound track. Why am I being so harsh about
