3 Journeys that YOU must take before turning 21
The last time around, I wrote about the journeys to take with a philosophical twist. So I thought it would be fun to go back to do something that didn’t have any philosophical undertone. Wait, what am I talking? Me? Writing without philosophy? You must be kidding me. So, it’s me again, presenting to you, the three trips/journeys that YOU must take before turning 21. There are two things to note here. The “you” is in capitals, did you think about it? It’s because this article is about you. And the age limit of 21? Because that’s what most of us are, or rather were, or rather will be, oh come on! You get the point right? Without any further delay, here we go!
To any location that offers sun, sand and sea. Okay, in short; Goa. Again, it’s the allure of Goa that brings me back always.
Eternal tourist destination.
Anytime throughout the year.
YOU. And a bunch of likeminded vagabonds.
Most of us have seen movies like Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and have wondered, “man, some day”. Okay, may be not Spain for three weeks, but Goa for a week? Definitely. This is one trip that everyone must take, irrespective of age, caste, creed, sex or religion. Okay wait again, age? Like I mentioned, 21? Why? Quite simply because Goa can be enjoyed best at 21. Period, Vagabonds? Of course, Goa is not enjoyed in formals, let the hair down, hire a bike and ride off into the sunset with the best lot that you can find. Because this is one journey you will cherish for the rest of your life.
To a location where the peaks kiss the skies. Ooty may be?
To recreate, rejuvenate and refresh.
Family , of course.
Family gives so much to you and in return asks for only one thing on your behalf, time. So take time out and make the trip that your parents have been asking you to take from time immemorial. Let your dad know that YOU can shoulder responsibility (read as carrying luggage), let your mom know that YOU are no longer in her shadow (read as walking off into the wilderness and pretending to be lost) and let your sibling know that YOU are a true hero (read as defying the cold). Okay now, jokes apart. Ooty. Family time. Game, Set and Match.
To a location where the sun dives into the sea. Beach? Yes. Which one? Anyone.
Sun and Sea. Romance unlimited. Need I say more?
Sunset. Be specific
YOU and your loved one.
I’ll keep it short here. Imagine YOU and your loved one, on a silky beach, blazing sunset, hand in hand, silent but strong breeze across, of promises kept and the ones to come, about journeys completed and the ones yet to take, about life lived and lived happily. I sign off as you picture those vivid colors of orange in your head with the palms pressed. Ciao!
